Audition location: Monument Arts & Cultural Center, 44 Gypsy Lane, Bennington, Vt.
Rehearsals begin: March 10 (will work around actors’ schedule)
Needed: 10 to 11 men, 11 to 12 women and children.
(The role of Emile de Becque will be played by Metropolitan Opera Star OREN GRADUS.)
Seeking the following roles:
Nellie Forbush: 25-35. A spunky optimistic nurse from Arkansas who falls in love with Emile, the French plantation owner. Dance skills. Vocals: Mezzo-Soprano
LT. Joseph Cable: 20-30. A handsome young marine officer who falls in love with Liat, a local Tonkinese woman. Vocals: Tenor
Bloody Mary: 35+. Appearance should be Polynesian/East Asian/mixed ethnicity. A sassy native merchant who sells souvenirs to the American sailors. Vocals: Mezzo-Soprano
Liat: 20-30. Bloody Mary’s daughter. Appearance should be Polynesian/East Asian/mixed ethnicity.
Luther Billis: 30+. An entrepreneurial sailor. Comedic timing. Vocals: Baritone
Ngana: 8-12. She’s Emile’s daughter (sings “Dites-Moi”). Appearance should be Polynesian/mixed ethnicity.
Jerome: 8-12. He’s Emile’s son (sings “Dites-Moi”). Appearance should be Polynesian/mixed ethnicity.
