Lenox— WAM Theatre congratulates Erica Barreto and Nicole M. Young-Martin as their Board’s new co-president team. This will be Nicole’s first year as WAM’s Co-President and Erica’s second year, having been co-presidents with Toni Buckley in 2024.
“It’s really something special to see an organization like WAM own up to its values and elect not only one but two women of color to co-lead its board at a time like this. I’m feeling honored and energized to be re-elected to this leadership position,” said Barreto.
Young-Martin shared, “I’m beyond excited to continue my work with WAM Theatre in this way. People, especially students and early-career professionals, do not realize the important role board members have with the sustainability and vitality of an organization, especially one that has the reach and mission of WAM Theatre. Early in my arts management career, I did not realize that I could lead in this way as those who served in this capacity (and typically do) are white men with money and clout. It means a lot to put to practice everything that I’ve learned in the classroom and in the field to support, uplift, and champion the work of this ground-breaking theatre through the collaborative efforts of the staff, board, artists, volunteers, funders, artists and community members.”
