Amherst Regional High School Theater
ARHS presents Fun Home
March 6, 7, 8 @ 7:30; March 8 @ 2:00
ARHS Auditorium
When her father dies unexpectedly, graphic novelist Alison dives deep into her past to tell the story of the volatile, brilliant, one-of-a-kind man whose temperament and secrets defined her family and her life. Moving between past and present, Alison relives her unique childhood playing at the family’s Bechdel Funeral Home, her growing understanding of her own sexuality, and the looming, unanswerable questions about her father’s hidden desires. Fun Home is a refreshingly honest, wholly original musical that won multiple Tony Awards and was a Pulitzer Prize finalist for best dramatic work in 2014.
Based on Bechdel’s autobiographical graphic novel of the same name, Fun Home will be a familiar story to anyone that can identify with the challenges of growing up, of kids understanding their parents and parents learning about their kids as they approach adulthood.
