BENNINGTON – The Monument Arts & Cultural Center is delighted to present three performances of “Into the Woods Jr.,” a youth-adapted version of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s award-winning Broadway musical.
Showtimes are at 7 p.m. August 15, and 2 and 6 p.m. August 16.
“Into the Woods Jr.” weaves classic fairy tales into an enchanting, song-filled adventure, setting familiar characters on a journey into the woods to fulfill their greatest desires: The Baker and his Wife wish to have a child, Cinderella wishes to attend the King’s Festival, and Jack wishes his cow would give milk. We meet Little Red Riding Hood, the Wolf, Rapunzel, two princes, a witch, and more along the way.
The genius of James Lapine’s book, wrapped in Sondheim’s beguiling music and lyrics, is that getting what you wish for comes with consequences.
The production crew of “Into the Woods Jr.” includes co-directors Kristine Lewis and Suzy Haner, musical director Lauren Biasi, sound director Garrett Currier, and lighting/stage design director David Groupe.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, and $10 for children and can be purchased at https://www.monumentcentervt.org/tickets-into-the-wacoods-jr or at the door, cash or check only. For more information, call 802-318-4444.
