All roles are open.

Goshen Players is pleased to announce auditions for Lucky Stiff. From the Tony Award-winning writing team Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Ragtime, Once on This Island, Anastasia), Lucky Stiff is an offbeat, hilarious musical murder mystery, complete with mistaken identities, six million bucks in diamonds, and a corpse in a wheelchair.

Show Synopsis: Lucky Stiff is the heartwarming tale of a man, a corpse, and a whole lot of money. Harry Witherspoon, a down-on-his-luck shoe salesman, inherits a fortune from his dead uncle, but there’s a catch: he has to drag the old man’s embalmed body to Monte Carlo for one last hurrah. Along the way, Harry finds love, adventure, and the true meaning of family (even if it’s with a deceased relative). Lucky Stiff is an offbeat murder mystery that proves “It’s good to be alive.”

Audition Dates: Monday, August 18th at 7 PM and Tuesday, August 19th at 7 PM. Callbacks, if needed, will be on Thursday, August 21st at 7 PM. All roles are open.

Auditions will be held at the Old Town Hall at 2 North Street, Goshen, CT(on the rotary). This production will be directed by Noel Roberge, with music direction by Dan Ringuette. Performances will be November 8, 14, 15, 21 & 22 at 8 PM and 9, 16 & 23 at 3 PM.

Auditionees should prepare up to a minute of a song in the style of the show that is suited to the character for which you are auditioning. It is preferred that you not sing a song from the show. Please provide piano sheet music in your key, with your selection highlighted. An accompanist will be provided. A cappella singing and recorded accompaniments are not allowed. As part of your audition, you may also be asked to read from the script.

Come prepared to share your calendar conflicts between the audition date and the show dates. Anyone cast must be available for tech week Saturday November 1st – Friday November 7th, mid-weeks on Thursdays November 6 and 13, and all performance dates. Rehearsals will begin the week of August 24th. Appointments are not needed.

This is not your typical ensemble! Each ensemble member plays, on average, seven distinct roles, often within the same scene. The ensemble is vital to the success of this musical and requires excellent comedic performers with strong singing voices who are good with accents (Cockney, British, Italian, French, Southern US).
