Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap is the world’s most famous murder mystery. Set in a snowbound English country guesthouse, the story begins as newlyweds Mollie and Giles Ralston open their doors to an eclectic group of guests. When a police detective arrives to warn them that a murderer may be in their midst, tensions rise, secrets surface, and suspicion falls on everyone. With Christie’s trademark wit and cunning, the play keeps audiences guessing until its final, shocking reveal.

Since its London premiere in 1952, The Mousetrap has become the longest continuously running play in history. The West End production just celebrated its 30,000th performance in March 2025, marking more than seven decades of thrilling audiences around the world. Part of the play’s enduring allure is the tradition that has been honored since its opening night: at the end of each performance, audiences are asked not to reveal the identity of the murderer. This longstanding ritual ensures that the mystery remains intact for future theatergoers, keeping the suspense alive across generations!

“This production promises all the chills, tension, and surprises that have made The Mousetrap an enduring worldwide phenomenon,” said Carl Andress, Artistic Director of Sharon Playhouse. “With Hunter Foster at the helm and this extraordinary cast, our audiences are in for an unforgettable theatrical event.”

The Mousetrap closes out Sharon Playhouse’s 2025 Mainstage Season following Million Dollar Quartet, Annie, and Sylvia. The Playhouse will present a special star-studded benefit staged reading of Charles Busch’s outrageous comedy Die, Mommie, Die!, on September 12, starring the author, Charles Busch, who will be joined by an all-star cast. The 2025 Mainstage season also features the fifth annual presentation of Writers Playground, a ten-minute play festival of new works written by local playwrights (September 18-19). Tickets for all events are available at SharonPlayhouse.org
