The Show
Oscar Levant, 1950s character actor, amazing pianist and famous wit, was also an over-medicated, neurotic mess — a very difficult person but a brilliant talk show guest. This play describes one astonishing evening in 1958 on NBC’s “The Tonight Show with Jack Parr”, where Oscar seems to have gone down in flames, bringing Parr, NBC and live television with him.
Available Roles –
ALVIN FINNEY
A young medical orderly working in the mental ward at Mt. Sinai, with a droll sense of humor and serious ambition, 20s or 30s, African-American. All Genders welcome.
MAX WEINBAUM
Jack Parr’s new production assistant. A young man whose ingratiating enthusiasm is matched only by his comic ineptitude, 20s.
