David Girard presents Troy Foundry Theatre‘s spine-tingling, atmospheric, and deeply human adaptation of A Christmas Carol, as a winter fundraiser to support TFT’s continued artistic work. Adapted, edited, and re-imagined by Wesley Broulik (Time’s Fool Company), the production features a solo performance by David Girard with immersive musical and sonic accompaniment from composer and multi- instrumentalist Connor Armbruster. This intimate and ghostly retelling runs December 5th–6th and 10th–12th at 8PM, with two special Victorian Stroll Sunday performances on December 7th at 2PM & 6PM, all at The Waiting Room (19 3rd St., Troy, NY).
Broulik’s adaptation of A Christmas Carol is a tightly wrought, atmospheric tour-de-force that highlights the Gothic and supernatural elements of Dickens’ story while preserving its message of generosity, transformation, and human connection. Grounded in Victorian storytelling traditions — where Christmas ghost tales were the seasonal norm — this version dives into the eerie beauty, moral urgency, and spiritual spectacle of Dickens’ world. A perfect fit for Victorian Stroll weekend in downtown Troy.
