CASTING CALL: Young Creators & Storytellers Across New York State

If you know a young person who wants to be a performer – or a content creator, influencer, filmmaker, or storyteller – this is tremendous opportunity.

The New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) is launching a statewide campaign called DROP YOUR POV created entirely by young people, for young people and we’re looking for original voices to be featured.

Announced by Governor Kathy Hochul, this initiative invites young creative minds ages 10 – 25 to submit original content including short videos, filmed performances, spoken word, songs, animations, posters, and more. The focus: real, authentic messages about substance use risks, decision-making, and protecting their futures. Complete details are available online.

The first step is basically – an audition. Young performers create THEIR message THEIR way – something that will resonate with other young people. Creations can then be uploaded online.

Selected submissions will be featured in a major statewide campaign, including social media, television, billboards, posters, and digital channels. Past campaigns have generated hundreds of millions of impressions.

We’re offering incredible visibility for emerging creators looking to build their audience and portfolio – while producing a message that can make a difference in the lives of others.

There is no cost to participate, and while this is not a paid opportunity, selected creators will gain significant exposure and the chance to have their work seen on a massive scale.

We’re looking for:

  • Authentic voices
  • Creative storytelling
  • Digital-first thinking
  • Messages that resonate with peers

Parental/guardian consent is required for participants under 18. For complete details and upload instructions, visit https://oasas.ny.gov/drop-your-pov.
