Creative Action Unlimited announces auditions for the role of Connie in Counter Culture, an original production co-written and co-directed by Michael Kennedy and KD McTeigue.
Monday and Tuesday, June 8 and 9 at 6:30 pm
Creative Action Unlimited, 6 Greenwood Dr, East Greenbush NY 12061

Synopsis: When systems failed her in a time of need, Connie made doctrine her brand. Now she livestreams aspirational content about “traditional womanhood”  to thousands online, mixing homemade sourdough recipes with homilies about women’s subservience to men. But when her audience uncovers a secret of Connie’s in real time, she’s forced to reckon with how her allegiance to an oppressive ideal does not protect her from its impact.

CONNIE – (Female, can play late 20s – mid 30s) She’s made a brand out of traditional womanhood: being a subservient wife, making an abundant home, perfecting a feminine ideal as an antidote to the expectations of modern living. She believes in this, mostly. She found her way and wants to help you find yours.

PUPPET – (This role has been cast) An entity that is curious, helpful and endearing — until it isn’t.

Note: This piece deals with subjects of religion and pregnancy loss.
