Announcing Auditions for The Black Theatre Troupe of Upstate NY’s first production of the 2026-2027 Season – MY CHILDREN! MY AFRICA! by Athol Fugard, directed by Jean-Remy Monnay.
MY CHILDREN! MY AFRICA! by Athol Fugard – A gripping drama set during apartheid-era South Africa, where education and political revolution collide.
The great South African playwright confronts the tragedy of apartheid in his native land in this compelling tale about the efforts of a humble and humane Black teacher in a segregated township to persuade just one young person that education, not violence, is the answer to South Africa’s problems.
Auditions: Wednesday June 17 and Thursday June 18 at 7:00PM @ the First Congregational Church, 405 Quail St, Albany, NY 12208. If you are able, please bring a prepared dramatic monologue. You may also be asked to read from the script.
Performances: October 22-25, 2026 & October 29th – November 1st @ theREP, 251 N. Pearl St., Albany, NY 12207.

Rehearsals will begin early August. There will be weekday evenings and weekend daytime rehearsals. Please bring your calendars/conflicts to auditions.
