We are reaching out from The Orchard Project with another opportunity for local actor/singers and local musicians, and to ask for your help passing it along to anyone in your community who might be a fit.
This summer, as part of our Performance Lab residency at Skidmore College, we are seeking a the following to participate in a workshop of COAL, a new Americana musical by playwright and composer Nicholas Connors:
- Male identifying actors/singers in their 20’s-40’s
- A fiddle player
- A percussionist
Workshop dates: July 6–11, 2026
Location: Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, NY
Compensation: $700 stipend
Presentation: Selections and excerpts shared evening of July 11
We’re looking for skilled, collaborative actors and musicians who are excited about developing new work in a workshop environment. for the musicians, in addition to performing as part of the band, the roles involve speaking a small amount of text during the presentation — so comfort with light performance responsibilities is encouraged.
The Orchard Project is excited to cast and hire local artists where possible, and we’re grateful to everyone who has helped us spread the word on these various projects.

About the Orchard Project: The Orchard Project is a nationally recognized nonprofit theater residency program based in Saratoga Srpings and New York City. Each summer, we convene playwrights, directors, composers, and theater companies at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs for our Performance Lab — an intensive residency supporting new work in development. OP has supported the development of hundreds of new works over its history that have gone to stages across the country, to Off-Broadway, and to Broadway.
