West Springfield, MA (8/20/26) – West Springfield’s Majestic Theater open its 29th Season of plays with the musical Nunsense, which runs September 3 – October 11.  The Majestic Theater is located at 131 Elm Street in West Springfield, MA.

Nunsense, a musical comedy by Dan Goggin, focuses on five surviving nuns from the Little Sisters of Hoboken who stage a wacky variety show to raise money to bury a few sisters from the convent after their cook accidentally poisons many of the nuns with tainted soup. This classic crowd‑pleaser—an international sensation performed in more than 8,000 productions worldwide and winner of four Outer Critics Circle Awards—makes its first‑ever appearance on the Majestic stage to launch the 2026-2027 Season.

The Majestic’s Producing Director Sue Dziura will direct the play. Iaslyn Lewis is stage manager, Michael Garcia is production assistant, and Elisabeth Weber is music director. Scenic director is Juliana Haubrich, and Dan Rist is lighting designer.  Sound designer is Ryan Hickey, and Dawn McKay is costume designer.

The cast includes Marty Bongfeldt (Mother Superior, Mary Regina), Lori Holmes Clark (Sr. Robert Anne), Destini Stewart (Sr. Hubert), Rachel Ballasy (Sr. Leo), and Caelie Flanagan (Sr. Amnesia). Understudies include Amanda Uruquhart Tilghman and Elaine Hom. Band members include Cliff Schofer, Jacob Nichols and Ann-Marie Messbauer.

Other plays being produced this season at the Majestic include:

Lend Me a Tenor (October 22 – November 29, 2026), a modern farce by Ken Ludwig. Set in a 1930s Cleveland hotel suite, the play spins wildly out of control when a world‑famous tenor’s visit to the Grand Cleveland Opera triggers a chain reaction of mistaken identities, accidental overdoses, frantic costume swaps, and enough backstage panic to make even seasoned stage managers break a sweat.

Eureka Day (January 7 – February 14, 2027) by Jonathan Spector. This sharply written comedy takes place at the Eureka Day private school, it follows well‑meaning parents and trustees as they navigate a sensitive public health concern—one that tests personal convictions, community responsibility, and the art of listening. Never taking sides, the play uses humor and insight to explore how neighbors can find common ground even when opinions differ.

The Price (February 25 – April 4, 2027) by Arthur Miller, is a gripping and deeply human drama about the emotional costs we carry from the choices we make. When two long‑estranged brothers reunite to sell their late parents’ belongings, the attic around them becomes a battleground of memory, resentment, and long‑buried truths. As an aging furniture dealer negotiates the value of the objects, the brothers must reckon with the far greater “price” of sacrifice, regret, and the futures they might have lived.

West Side Story (April 15 – May 30, 2027), a timeless musical where soaring romance meets gripping drama.  Featuring one of the most iconic and beloved scores in American theater, along with dynamic choreography and richly drawn characters, this landmark production captures the intensity, hope, and heartbreak of young love divided by loyalty and circumstance. West Side Story remains one of the stage’s most electrifying works, and the Majestic invites audiences to experience its passion and poignancy anew in a vivid, heartfelt finale to the season. The musical is based on a Conception of Jerome Robbins, book by Arthur Laurents, music by Leonard Bernstein, and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.
