Albany Civic Theater will be holding auditions for The Trip to Bountiful by Horton Foote, directed by Sydnie Grosberg Ronga, on Monday, September 21 and Tuesday, September 22, at 7:30 PM each evening (sign in at 7:00).

Show dates: December 4, 5, 6, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 2026. Fridays and Saturdays @ 7:30 and Sundays @ 3:00.
Rehearsal Schedule to be determined based on cast availability.
Roles:
Mrs. Carrie Watts: An aging, spirited widow who desperately wants to visit her hometown of Bountiful, Texas, before she dies.
Ludie Watts: Carrie’s caring, overprotective, and exhausted son who works in Houston.
Jessie Mae Watts: Ludie’s bossy, materialistic, and authoritarian wife who clashes constantly with Carrie in their cramped apartment.
Thelma: A kind young woman whom Carrie befriends at the Houston bus station while escaping.
The Sheriff: A friendly local law officer in Harrison, Texas, who shows kindness and understanding to Carriewhen her family catches up.
Roy: A local resident and friend from Carrie’s past in Bountiful
Written in 1953, the play centers on Carrie Watts and her desire to see her home once more before she dies. She currently lives with her son, Laurie, and daughter-in-law, Jessie Mae, in a small apartment in Houston. She has a contentious relationship with Jessie Mae, and Ludie tries to keep the peace. Her need to visit her past has been growing and her great escape is helped by some lovely characters along the way.
