September 14, 2026 – CAMBRIDGE, NY – Hubbard Hall, the renowned arts center in Washington County, anchored by its historic 1878 Opera House, announces the Fall 2026 season will open with A.R. Gurney’s Off-Broadway comedy Sylvia, running October 2 through October 11. Sylvia features four local actors and is directed by Kirk Jackson, a Broadway actor and Faculty Emeritus at Bennington College.
Sylvia and several other productions this fall will use a new Two Ticket Prices model, allowing ticket buyers to select their price based on their ability to pay. Tickets for Sylvia are $35 and $15 and may be purchased in advance or at the door. All tickets are general admission, with seating first-come, first-served. Doors open thirty minutes prior to curtain time.
“As we launch our fall season, it’s important to demonstrate that Hubbard Hall is here for everyone – both in quality of programming and affordability,” says Dan Costello, newly appointed Interim Artistic Director and a local theater artist, musician and educator. In addition to performances, Hubbard Hall offers a wide range of dance, art, fitness and theater classes for adults and children on campus. Scholarships for classes are available.
Beyond Sylvia, the fall season reflects Hubbard Hall’s long tradition of hosting music, dance, storytelling and more in the 1878 Opera House. A Community Dance Weekend will feature the local Tune Jam Band playing for a Contra Dance on October 17 in the Freight Depot, followed by a Zydeco Dance featuring the lively band ZydeGroove on October 18 in the Opera House.
Local actors and writers take the stage October 23 and 24 for two spooky, witch-themed nights in the annual storytelling event Whispering Bones, directed by Hubbard Hall board member Kelvin Keraga. (continued on next page)
Ontario singer-songwriter Allison Lupton will perform November 13 with a trio featuring Canadian Grand Master fiddler and U.S. National Fiddle Champion Shane Cook plus multi-instrumentalist and Maryland-native Colin Forhan.
Music from Salem, a beloved partner organization of Hubbard Hall, celebrates its 40th anniversary with a special program of Bartók and Beethoven on November 15, followed by a festive soirée. Led by co-Founder and Artistic Director Lila Brown, Music from Salem’s longtime partnership with the Hall has been pivotal in the growth of both organizations.
The Drama League, a more recent partner from New York City, supports exceptional stage directors as they develop new projects at Hubbard Hall. Acclaimed writer/director and Wesleyan Theater faculty Alex Keegan will adapt Sylvia Townsend Warner’s 1926 satirical novel Lolly Willowes, or The Loving Huntsman for the stage as an artist-in-residence. Keegan will speak to the public on November 7 in a free presentation about the work.
