R’ville Stage Creations‘ production of local playwright Kristoph DiMaria’s adaptation of Washington Irving’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow takes its audience on a literal horse chase! Wind howls and bones rattle as an enigmatic storyteller is conjured to share the classic Hudson Valley folktale of Ichabod Crane and his fateful night with the famed headless horseman. With music and dance drawn from folk settings of popular 18th & 19th century Catskill Mountain songs, DiMaria’s brilliant adaptation is an immersive trunk show portrayed through dialogue, music, dance, shadow puppetry, and surprise illusions that bring the story to life. It’s a timeless, tameless tale of foppish bravery in the face of small town bullying, hilarity, and romance. Some scary scenes, but FAMILY friendly!!
This is an immersive production, staged October 23 & 24 at 7 pm and October 25 at 2 pm under a walled tent with rustic seating on the grounds of Be Golden Farms (15 Gifford Hollow Rd, Berne, NY). Arrive early to enjoy their wood-fired pizza and – for the brave – a walk on our haunted path through the woods, where our troupe of scare actors are waiting for you. Dress for the weather and bring an extra blanket to keep your bones warm.
