In Disorder in the Court, the audience decides the verdict—and the ending!
LENOX, MA — October 8, 2026 — The Lenox Memorial Middle & High School Drama Club invites audiences to take their seats in the jury box for its upcoming production of Disorder in the Court, a hilarious and unpredictable courtroom comedy written by Brianna Dehn and directed by Ryan Bannen. This one-night-only performance will take place on Friday, October 23, at 7:00 p.m. in the LMMHS Library. Unlike a traditional theatrical production, this immersive experience puts the audience right in the middle of the action, giving them the ultimate responsibility: deciding the fate of the accused!
The Case: Casey Licit is just a young girl trying to make her way from New York City to Boston when she suddenly finds herself caught up in some serious trouble. Was she simply in the wrong place at the wrong time, or is there more to the story? As a colorful cast of questionable witnesses, eccentric attorneys, and courtroom characters takes the stand, the truth becomes increasingly difficult to uncover. With outrageous testimony, unexpected twists, and plenty of courtroom chaos, audiences will have to separate fact from fiction before casting their final vote. Is Casey innocent or guilty? The audience decides in this unique “You Pick the Ending” production!
Adding to the excitement, the LMMHS Library will be transformed into a functioning (and delightfully dysfunctional) courtroom, with audience members serving as the jury. The production features a talented ensemble of middle school performers who will bring the courtroom to life through comedy, audience interaction, and improvisation.
“This production is especially exciting because we’re doing something a little different from a traditional school play,” says director Ryan Bannen. “We’re transforming our library into a courtroom and inviting the audience to become part of the story. Our students have been working hard to create these larger-than-life characters, and the element of audience participation means that no one, including the actors, knows exactly how the night will end. It’s a wonderful opportunity for our middle school students to explore improvisation, comedy, and interactive storytelling. We can’t wait to see what verdict our audience delivers!”
The production also marks an exciting opportunity to showcase the creativity and talent of Lenox’s middle school students while raising funds for the Lenox Memorial Middle & High School Drama Club. Proceeds from the performance will help support future theatrical productions and educational opportunities for student performers.
