DORSET, VT — The Dorset Players, along with The Inns of Dorset and Four Seasons Sotheby’s International Realty, present POTUS: Or, Behind Every Great Dumbass Are Seven Women Trying to Keep Him Alive, a wildly outrageous political farce by Selina Fillinger. Performances will take place at the Dorset Playhouse, 104 Cheney Road, Dorset, on November 3 at 6:30 PM, November 6 and 7 at 7:30 PM, and November 8 at 2:00 PM. Tickets are available at dorsetplayers.org or by calling 802-867-5777.

Directed by Renee Marco Wymer and produced by Lorri Bond, POTUS takes audiences behind the scenes of the White House, where seven brilliant, beleaguered women are tasked with cleaning up one presidential disaster after another.

When the President’s latest public relations nightmare threatens to become an international crisis, the women who keep the administration running must scramble to contain the damage. What follows is a hilarious, fast-paced comedy of increasingly outrageous circumstances, as the women navigate political egos, personal ambitions, and the absurdity of holding everything together while the man in charge threatens to bring it all crashing down.

The talented ensemble features Elisabeth Hazelton as Harriet, the President’s fiercely capable Chief of Staff; Megan Demarest as Jean, the sharp-witted Press Secretary; Dana Haley as Stephanie, the President’s devoted but frazzled secretary; Jessica Dillon as Margaret, the formidable First Lady; Ali Rodrigues as Dusty, an unexpected visitor who throws the White House into further turmoil; Tracy Cosker as Chris, an ambitious journalist chasing the story of a lifetime; and Julie Reddington as Bernadette, the President’s troublemaking sister.

With razor-sharp dialogue, outrageous physical comedy, and a healthy dose of female fury, POTUS is a laugh-out-loud celebration of the women behind the men who make the headlines. The comedy takes no political sides, skewering the absurdities of power rather than any particular party or politician.

Election Night, Tuesday, November 3, will feature a special Ladies’ Night performance at 6:30 PM, with festivities before and after the show. Guests can enjoy a cash bar before the performance and during intermission; a raffle featuring prizes from local women-owned businesses, with proceeds benefiting The Dorset Players and She Should Run, a nonpartisan organization dedicated to encouraging women to run for public office; and real-time election results streaming in the Playhouse café. Following the performance, audiences are invited to join the cast for a post-show dance party right on the White House stage. Grab your girls—the guys who support them are welcome, too—for a memorable evening of theater, laughter, and celebration.

POTUS premiered on Broadway in 2022 and earned three Tony Award nominations. The play is recommended for mature audiences due to strong language and adult themes.

The production is sponsored by The Bank of Bennington.
