Inspired by an indie manga, this immersive, darkly humorous theater piece utilizes Virtual Reality (VR) to transform audience members into the play’s protagonist, an unsuspecting patron of a traditional Japanese diner. From their socially distanced “stations” on the stage, viewers hear the Master’s every instruction and experience first-hand his highjacking of the identity of the young man as he persuades him to take over the diner by controlling his thoughts and actions. “A one-man psychological trip into the underbelly of our desires” that collapses the border between reality and illusion.
