Summary Fifteen-year-old Christopher has an extraordinary brain: He is exceptional at mathematics but ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. He has never ventured alone beyond the end of his road, he detests being touched, and he distrusts strangers. Now it is 7 minutes after midnight, and Christopher stands beside his neighbor’s dead dog, Wellington, who has been speared with a garden fork. Finding himself under suspicion, Christopher is determined to solve the mystery of who murdered Wellington, and he carefully records each fact of the crime. But his detective work, forbidden by his father, takes him on a thrilling journey that upturns his world. The Play is set in the present in Swindon, England and London. All roles are open; no roles are pre-cast. All actors will be members of an ensemble who are onstage for much of the play and most play multiple characters – even inanimate objects! Casting will be without regard to ethnicity and actors of diverse backgrounds are encouraged to audition. Actors who are neurodiverse (“on the spectrum”) and their allies/family members are strongly encouraged to come out for this production. Also, newcomers are ALWAYS welcome at Exit 7. Ages are playing ages only, actors of all ages will be considered. The role of Christopher Boone must be played convincingly as a teen male. Characters are working-class, strongly binary males and females, but actors of any gender may be considered for roles. There is movement required by all the actors in the company. This is very much ensemble and actor-based movement and requires no prior specific training but is very much an integral element to this production. For all company members it will require a willingness to move with precision, speed, agility and imagination. For certain company members it will also require strength, stamina and athleticism. Exit Seven is a community theater group located in Ludlow, Massachusetts that was founded in the spring of 1984. Located on Chestnut Street in the historic auditorium of what was previously the Ludlow High School, the Exit Seven Players have focused on renovating the Chestnut Street Theater while bringing exceptional theatrical experiences to Western Massachusetts.
