SYNOPSIS: Aging Marjorie is a jumble of disparate, fading memories, but her handsome new companion – who runs on artificial intelligence – is there to help her reconstruct her reality as she’d most like to remember it. Jordan Harrison’s “Marjorie Prime, ” a 2015 Pulitzer finalist, is a searing look at the near future, and the Pandora’s box we might open by using technology to cheat death. Available Roles: MARJORIE – Late 60s – 80s. Feisty and sharp, but beginning to lose her memory. WALTER – late 20s – 30s. Handsome career man. Marjorie’s husband from the past. TESS – 40s – 50s. Marjorie’s daughter. Both her relationship with her mother and her willingness to accept technology as a solution are struggles. JON – 40s -50s. Kind, helpful husband to Tess. Marjorie describes him as having “a face to grow old with.” |
