New Lebanon, NY—HRC Showcase Theatre, previously based in Hudson, New York, would like to welcome you to its 2nd staged reading of 2022 of original plays at its new location The Theater Barn in New Lebanon, New York. HRC’s new home for four productions in 2022.
This second reading like the others are all winners of HRC’s nationwide playwriting competition, will be directed by Artistic Director Barbara Waldinger, and performed by professional actors. A talkback featuring the playwright, director and cast members, will follow each staged reading.
Join Us: Saturday, June 18, 7:30 p.m.: “How We Survived” by Pauline David-Sax
How We Survived, written by Pauline David-Sax and directed by Barbara Waldinger.
Story: Freyda, a widowed survivor of Nazi Germany, resists filing for survivor benefits on behalf of her late husband. When her frustrated daughter takes matters into her own hands, she unearths evidence of a shocking family secret.
Pauline David-Sax, a playwright, children’s book author and educator, won a Jane Chambers Playwriting Award in 2020 for How We Survived, and was a finalist for the Henley Rose Playwright Competition for Women (2020-21). Her debut picture book Everything in its Place is scheduled for publication by Random House in July, 2022.
HRC’s Artistic Director Barbara Waldinger will direct the cast, which includes Eileen Schuyler, Andrew Joffe, Caroline Kera and Isabel Sanchez. A talkback at the conclusion of the reading will feature the playwright, director, and cast.
