Seeking Immediate Video Submission by July 22
(Pittsfield, MA) Barrington Stage Company, the award-winning theatre in Downtown Pittsfield, under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd, is seeking immediate video submissions for the role of the Young Messenger/The Kid in Samuel Beckett’s masterpiece, Waiting for Godot. Submissions are open until July 22. Actors should be available for 1 to 2 daytime rehearsals per week in Pittsfield between August 2 – August 19 and available for performances August 19-September 4 at the St. Germain Stage. Actors will be compensated $200/week.
Director Joe Calarco (Sister Sorry, Into the Woods, Breaking the Code) is looking for two young boys any race, ages 9-15. Actors will share the role and split performances throughout the run. Actors should read 10ish in age. In Waiting for Godot, the Boy is the youngster who works for Godot. He reports to Gogo and Didi each day that Godot will not be able to make it, but never remembers having met the two before. Boyish, with an innocence or at least just a kind of “goodness” to them, this role is a great opportunity for many levels of experience.
About Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett:
Vladimir and Estragon wait on a deserted country road to meet a person named Godot. Killing time with hat tricks and half-remembered stories, they dawdle through one of the greatest dramas of the 20th century. In Beckett’s absurd, anarchic world, life is vaudeville and tragedy, philosophy, and confusion, all seamlessly woven together with the playwright’s masterful blend of poetry and humor.
