Albany Civic Theater announces auditions for “Jump” by Charly Evon Simpson. Directed by Ellen Cribbs.

Audition dates: Monday, Nov 7th and Tuesday, Nov 8th at 7pm at Albany Civic Theater, 235 Second Ave, Albany

Show dates: February 3rd – 19th 2023 (Friday – Sunday performances)

Rehearsals will start in December, with a long break for the holidays.

Roles available:

FAY – a 28 year old black woman working through the mourning process after losing her mother.

JUDY – a 31 year old black woman. Fay’s older sister.

DAD – a 58 year old black man. Fay and Judy’s Dad, who is not doing well.

HOPKINS – a man in his late 20s who is working through depression. Open ethnicity.

Synopsis: As Fay copes with the death of her mother and loss of her childhood home, she seeks solace by visiting the bridge her mother took her to as a child. There she meets Hopkins, who walks the bridge as a balm for his own grieving.  “Jump” is a play that touches on grief, depression, suicide, and the magic of hope in the midst of loss.
