About The Show:
THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (ABRIDGED) is not so much a play as it is a vaudeville show in which three charismatic, wildly ambitious actors attempt to present all thirty-seven of Shakespeare’s plays in a single performance. What they lack in knowledge of Shakespeare, they make up for with an earnest focus and breakneck enthusiasm.
Available Roles:
Three male or male-presenting actors, who use their own names and play “theatrically pumped-up” versions of themselves. They pretend to be inventing the show as they go, so a spontaneous, improvised style is essential. Although not required, circus skills such as juggling, gymnast skills could be useful. Most important are good comic skills and a positive attitude.
“Daniel” is 20 to 30 years old and a “leading man” – plays Romeo, Horatio, Laertes, etc.
“Jess” can be older. He is an “academic” and plays Hamlet, Macbeth, Titus Andronicus, etc.
“Adam” is young – late teens to 20’s and highly energetic and clueless most of the time; he plays almost all the girl parts
All roles involve great energy and physical action.
SLOC Musical Theater pledges to continue to advocate for, and is aiming to build, a diverse cast reflective of the Schenectady community. All ethnicities, BIPOC actors, and actors of all gender identities are encouraged to audition for all roles. Please join us!
