Capital Rep seeks 2 actors for the October 2025 City Séance outdoor ghost tours in Downtown Albany. The tour includes the haunted history of Albany locations that are famous – and not so famous – for the ghosts that inhabit the fair city. Actors portray a number of famous personalities, each of whom tell an amazing true story about their lives and demises. Locations include The Kenmore Hotel, Kiernan Plaza (Union Station), Herman Melville’s childhood home, The Olde English Pub – and more.
Auditions are open to all actors. Equity and non-equity.(This is not an Equity contract).
Tours include 2 stage managers, who manage logistics during the tours and all transportation within the tour route. (Complimentary parking is included for all actors). Actors are costumed by the Capital Rep costume shop.
Seeking: 2 male-presenting actors
LEGS DIAMOND: (late 20s-40s), Suave, a bit flamboyant, wise-guy, a gambler to the core. Brooklyn-born, from a tough Irish neighborhood, Legs rose to be an infamous bootlegger in the Capital City in the 1930s. Has an eye for the ladies, great dancer. (He appears at The Kenmore Hotel).
Pay: $700 (for rehearsals and tours)
UNDERSTUDY: male-presenting ghost: (will perform at least 2 tours). (20s-40s). Seeking versatile actor to cover the story of Herman Melville. Young Melville or an Old Sea Captain. (Young actors will play the young Melville; mature actors will play the Sea Captain who tells the Melville story). Will definitely perform 10/27, 10/28, but needs to be available on other dates.
Pay: $500 (for rehearsals and tours)
Dates/Times: 10/1, 10/3, 10/4, 10/8, 10/11, 10/15, 10/18, 10/21/10/22, 10/24, 10/27, 10/28 rain date: 11/3. Weekday tours start at 7PM (6:30 call); Saturday tours start at 6PM (5:30 call)
Auditions: Weds. Aug. 27, 4-6PM, Capital Repertory Theatre, 251 N. Pearl St., Albany, 12207. Iselin Family Studio Theatre.
Requirements: bring resume/photo stapled together, 1-2 minute, fully memorized contemporary monologue. Actors will also be asked to read one of the ghost monologues at auditions. (side will be emailed upon request)
