Join us for a Staged Reading of Edith Wharton’s Roman Fever at Ghent Playhouse

Benefits Columbia County EMS/Education

Two Performances Only: Friday, January 10 at 4:00 PM & Saturday, January 11 at 2:00 PM

For the third consecutive year, the Ghent Playhouse proudly presents a staged reading in support of a fellow local nonprofit, with all proceeds this year benefiting Columbia County EMS/Education.

This winter offering features Edith Wharton’s beloved short story Roman Fever. The readings offer audiences a cozy, uplifting afternoon of theater during the quiet weeks after the holidays.

“Roman Fever is my favorite Edith Wharton story, and Meg Dooley, Wendy Spielmann, and Dianne Hobden are three favorite Ghent Playhouse thespians,” says Vivian Wachsberger, event producer. “They will do an incredible job bringing this story to life.”

Set on a Roman terrace overlooking the Colosseum, Roman Fever follows two longtime friends—and rivals—as they reminisce while waiting for their daughters. What begins as polite conversation unfolds into a powerful exploration of friendship, jealousy, deception, and passion, culminating in a shocking revelation.

Proceeds from ticket sales will support Columbia County EMS/Education, whose compassionate and efficient emergency responders serve the community when help is needed most.

Each performance will be followed by a Cocoa and Cookie Buffet, inviting audiences to linger and enjoy warm conversation.

Advance tickets are suggested and may be purchased for $ 25.00 at ghentplayhouse.org.
