New Lebanon, NY (July 12, 2021) — The Theater Barn is pleased to announce their 37th Anniversary Season will continue with their annual Agatha Christie. This time it’s The Stranger directed by Barn favorite John Trainor, who has appeared in every Agatha Christie presented at the The Theater Barn with the exception of two, both of which he directed.

Returning to the Theater Barn are cast members Cara Moretto and Matthew Tyler. Moretto has appeared on the Barn’s stage many times before. Her Theater Barn credits include The Nerd (Tansy), The Mousetrap (Ms. Casewell), and Witness For The Prosecution (Greta). Tyler appeared as Sherlock Holmes in Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery and as Inspector Hearn in Witness for the Prosecution. New to the Barn’s stage this year are Stephen Heskett in the role of Dick and Sasha Conley in the role of Enid. Rounding out the cast is Associate Artistic Director, Monica Bliss, making her Theater Barn debut in the role of Mrs. Huggins.

This production of The Stranger by Dame Agatha Christie is the Berkshire premiere.  Based on her short story, “Philomel Cottage,” The Stranger is a haunting psychological affair and offers an early look at Christie as a young and vibrant writer of murder and mayhem. This murderous psychological thriller is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. Her heroine, Enid, has accepted what she believes is her last, best chance at marriage, but she can’t help but feel a little trapped. Then a handsome stranger steps into her life and opens the door to new possibilities. Enid rejects her fiancé for newcomer Gerald and moves to a remote country cottage with him – where a dark and terrible climax takes place. Don’t miss this Berkshire premiere!

Since 1984, The Theater Barn has a tradition of producing high quality, family friendly plays, comedies, mysteries and musicals from Broadway and beyond at an affordable price.  Located just 20 minutes from Pittsfield, it is an easy drive from the Berkshires, Capital District and Springfield areas.  New this year are 2pm Thursday matinees on select summer dates and Saturday 4pm matinees continue throughout the fall.
